American Red Cross to hold orientation, seeks volunteers in Georgetown
The American Red Cross is holding a new volunteer orientation Monday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Red Cross Chapter House, 104 Screven St., Georgetown, for residents to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
The Red Cross is in need of disaster-trained volunteers, who respond to the needs of those who are devastated by disasters, such as home fires and floods. Trained volunteers also are needed to help in the community during large-scale disasters, such as the Front Street fire, and office volunteers and community event volunteers are needed.
Registration is required. Go to www.redcross.org/CoastalSC, and click on “volunteer.” For more information, call 546-5422.
The Coastal SC Chapter is part of the American Red Cross Palmetto SC Region, which is made up of seven Red Cross chapters across 35 counties and, on average, responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. The Red Cross has been able to help more than 1,200 individuals affected by disasters in the Palmetto SC region since Jan. 1.
